ppll people

people

“People” with the vowels left out. Take away the excess and what remains is what cannot be downloaded.

Self-improvement in the era of AI

Machines have learned to think. What is left for a person?

The body, attention, speech, hands, sleep and the people nearby. ppll is about growing that every day and handing counting, memory and reminders to the machine.

Principles

How we go about it

  • Every day, a littleOne set, one phrase, one bar. Progress is counted in weeks, not in bursts. Skip a week and the norm steps back; that is fine.
  • The body firstSleep, breath, strength. After a bad night the day is built differently: spare, not push.
  • By hand and by voiceA language, an instrument, movement. What cannot be downloaded can only be grown: out loud, by playing, by lifting yourself.
  • AI is a coach, not a crutchIt counts the sets, remembers yesterday, listens to your pronunciation and reminds you. You do the doing.
  • People nearbyA coach and a team of up to ten, not followers and likes. Advice from someone who knows you weighs more than any recommendation.

Practices

What you grow and what the machine does

Six areas. Each has two sides: what cannot be handed to the machine, and what is worth handing to it.

AreaWhat you growWhat the machine does

Strength

Bodyweight ladders: pull-ups, push-ups, squats, plank. One rung at a time.

keeps the daily norm, raises or steps it back, counts reps through the camera.

Breath and heat

Breathing protocols, sauna, cold. Calming yourself in six minutes.

counts out loud, watches the time and your pulse, reminds you to drink.

Sleep

A regime: quiet in the evening, the same wake-up time, no screen at night.

reads the ring, tells you in the morning how you slept.

Languages

Speaking. Thai, English, German, Hebrew: phrases out loud, dialogues.

gives a native voice, hears where the word or the tone is wrong.

Music

An instrument in your hands. Trumpet: warm-up, a piece bar by bar.

reads sheet music from a photo, hears what you played, keeps the beat.

Attention

One screen for one task. A morning without a feed, an evening without notifications.

speaks a morning report instead of a feed, stays silent at night.

In practice

What one day looks like

Nothing heroic. An hour and a half spread over the day, each piece short enough that there is no reason to skip it.

The machine talks, the person does. A report in the morning, counting on the sets, a pronunciation check, silence at night. The screen is hardly needed.

People

A coach and a team

Nobody keeps this up alone for long. So ppll is small teams, up to ten people, with a coach who sees the progress and gives advice.

Member

  • Runs their own day with their own assistant, at their own pace.
  • Writes to the coach and gets advice as text or voice, right inside the day.

Coach

  • Sees the whole team: who did what today, who is behind, who needs a rest.
  • Picks each member's practices and speaks in a human voice where the machine only counts.

The home assistant we built for these principles

Talks and listens, runs the day, counts the sets, checks Thai by ear, reads sheet music, knows how you slept. Runs on our own server and GPU, on an iPad, Android and a Linux tablet. Access by a coach's invitation; members sign in at kevin.ppll.pl
